Packing for the hospital

July 11, 2012

Although I wish I were packing for an exotic trip somewhere like the south of Italy or Thailand, I must now pack for my trip to…the hospital! Baby is coming very soon! Obviously I had to use my Mackage suitcase. We had made it as a holiday gift so only a few select people own one. I LOVE IT! It is the ultimate perfection with a vintage look but modern vibe.

Packing for this trip is a challenge…How can you make sure you look your best right after the most gruesome hours in a woman’s life?

Below is my checklist of what you need to pack in case you are planning for such a trip in the near future.

For Mommy to be:

-Bathrobe

La Perla always makes me feel soooo chic….I chose a floor length silk robe with sheer sleeves which will make anything I have under look good while feeling less exposed!

-Sleepwear

So my goal was to find pajamas that are a cross between loungewear and pajama knowing that I will have visitors. My search was long and hard, but I finally came across these wonderful Cosabella PJs that gave me great color options. I chose this flattering royal blue with a small lace detail.

While searching, I discovered this brand Eberjey; the fabrics they use are so soft and delicious on the skin. I loved the fact that this navy pajama shirt looks like a typical one, but is so modern; it comes with a great pair of shorts which I chose to leave at home. I am sure that I will be comfier wearing this printed bottom I found, that looks great with it.

-Slippers

Good call Splendid for deciding to make some! How refreshing to find a contemporary slipper that makes you feel fun…and those blue stripes were made for my Pajama choices.

-Underwears and bras

In general I tend to go for sexy like La Perla or Agent provocateur but considering the circumstances, Gap body is the most fitting especially in all these summer colors.

-Socks

-Going home outfit

As you know by now, it is almost impossible for me to dress very laid back but honestly, now is a time I need to be a little realistic on how I will feel, so I thought long and hard about what would make me feel good and…bingo! James Perse lounge pants, Vince pink T-shirt and, you guessed it, my Lanvin Running shoes.

-Phone (s)

My blackberry and Iphone + chargers…Cannot part from them for one second, it’s almost a disease. I always, ALWAYS need to be connected to work.

-Toiletries

I bought cute travel bottles that need to be filled with my products and, yes I am so psycho that I even made mini labels as you can see. Included is body wash, face wash, body hydrating cream, deodorant, eye cream, face cream, shampoo, conditioner, hair brush.

Note to self: don’t forget toothbrush and toothpaste for me and my hubby, whom I surely will kiss at some point after our baby is born, that is if I didn’t kill him during the birth, fingers crossed.

-Make up

The basics: Concealer, Spray bronzer, mascara, lip gloss. As you can see I am a fan of Guerlain.

For Baby:

-Swaddle blankets & Wash cloths

Aden & Anais are always a must…Nathan cannot sleep without one. They are breathable and I love the designs. Baby always looks good swaddles in them. Their washcloths will also come in handy for baby’s first bath.

-Hat

I hate the ones they put on them at the hospital and like having matching ones to his PJs.

-Gloves

To avoid baby from scratching his little face.

-Pajamas and Onesies

My brand of choice for all these items is Petit Bateau. It is precious looking.

-Diapers and Wipes

-Pacifiers (yes in case of EMERGENCY I like to be prepared…pacifiers can become your best friend)

Enjoy this checklist!

Stay InFASHIONated.

Elisa, I looooove this post! Especially because it means baby is coming soon. The underwear reminded me of our last minute trip to the GAP when I visited you in NYC right before Nathan was born! Gotta love those undies!

    XOXO
